The Sian Ka’an Complex is one of Mexico’s most ecologically rich conservation areas, spanning over 657,000 hectares across four officially protected areas. Located in Quintana Roo on the Yucatán Peninsula, this complex encompasses both terrestrial and marine ecosystems of global ecological significance. It is home to tropical forests, savannas, wetlands, mangroves, lagoons, and part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second-largest coral reef system in the world.
