Shamirpet Haritha Lake resort is maintained by the Telangana Tourism department. Shamirpet Lake (‘Pedda Cheruvu’ in Telugu) is a picturesque lake located about 25 km from Secunderabad. This man-made lake was constructed over 50 years ago during the reign of the Nizam. Shamirpet Lake is quite well known for bird watching. A variety of migratory birds apart from herons, flamingos, pelicans and kingfishers visit the lake.
