San Crisanto, an ejido (communally owned territory in a Yucatan community) since 1974, is an example of a local indigenous community that has promoted innovative solutions for sustainable development that work for the planet and for the people. Focused on mangrove reforestation and flood prevention, we have applied strategies that have decreased flood risks, while increasing the diversity of endemic species in cenotes and mangroves.
