Our village is a 1,300-acre wooded peninsula of land with a community of people who are highly concerned with maintaining this land and beaches. Permits are required to cut down any trees for our village harbors our own bird sanctuary within the environment. Our land was originally inhabited by the Setalcott people who referred to the land as Nonowantuc which roughly means "The stream that dries up." The Setalcott were an Algonquian-speaking tribe that lived off the local land and waterways. Today, we aim to preserve our natural biodiversity as much as possible.
